Are any efforts being made to recruit merchants to accept Auroracoin?

What can be done to encourage merchants to accept AUR, in anticipation of the airdrop?

Would presentations to Chambers of Commerce meetings be effective?

At first I suspect we will see spontaneous acceptance in niche areas.

For a more mainstream merchant adoption, I think the following is crucial.
1. There has to be a liquid market for ISK/AUR.
2. Merchant applications will have to be developed.
3. BitPay like service has to be available.

This is very important for people in Iceland o others to have places to spend Aurora coin so there is no mass dump of the premined gift to the Icelandic people.

I think an exchange for ISK/AUR should be set up in Iceland! And all the fees they get should be donated to a different charity each month! Also the charity has to be located in Iceland and help Icelanders!

Do we have a predefined message for merchants?

At the moment I'm saving email addresses from all the hotels in Iceland and would like to email them tomorrow!

I will try to make a sample text for them and post it here

Do we have an app for them to use or they will have to use the wallet?

if someone can make a text before I can do it please post it here!

It seems that they will have to use the wallet for now. If you succeed to convince at least couple hotels to accept it now that would be a big step for aur. Good luck

I just mailed:
Dear Heml.is,

Are you going to be accepting AUR as payment for your messenger? Although I am implying it, I am not emailing you to tell you I will buy it if you do, but I'm actually asking if you are going to?

I'm betting you'll be one of the first companies to accept it. Am I right?

Regards,

(reaction will be dropped here asar)

@ietjeb @auroracoinis aha, that is not planned

Say, it makes me wonder... Isn't there a way to increase merchant acceptance...? How about 'buying' merchants? There's something we can give in return, as payment for a service offered... I'm sure there will be businesses (startups like heml.is perhaps), that depend on launch-publicity. publicity stunt #1 would be accepting AUR in general, for the first couple of companies, but more importantly:

Wouldn't the Auroracoin community be able to 'sponsor' a decent amount of likes (or retweets), to the accepting merchant in return?

I'm sure we could compose a list of 'activists' that would sign up for this sort of pay-back?

My thoughts precise see my earlier post:

http://forum.auroracoin.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29&start=20#p148

Is there a central mailing list to approach merchants? Like one can buy for instance in our KvK (Chamber of Commerce)?
